Itinerary
On your arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport a member of our staff will meet you and then be transferred to Nairobi Serena Hotel BB
This morning you will drive through lovely scenery to the Mount Kenya area, passing through a picturesque landscape of pineapple, tea, sisal, and coffee plantations, and arriving for lunch at your lodge.
In the afternoon you will take your first game drive in the private Ol Pejeta Conservancy (also known as the Sweetwaters Reserve). This 90,000-acre wildlife reserve is sandwiched between snow-capped Mount Kenya and the foothills of the Aberdares Hills, providing a stunning location as well as a remarkable variety of animals. All of the ‘big 5’ can be found here (lion, rhino, leopard, elephant, and buffalo) as well as zebra, giraffe, cheetah, and many more. The reserve has been instrumental in saving the highly endangered black rhino and provides one of the best opportunities for rhino sightings in Africa. Dinner and overnight at Sweet Waters Tented Camp FB
A full day of game drives in Ol Pejeta with a picnic lunch. Enjoy a visit to the chimpanzee sanctuary, established nearly 20 years ago to provide a life-long refuge to orphaned and abused chimpanzees from west and central Africa, and the only place in Kenya where this highly endangered and remarkably intelligent species can be seen. Meals and overnight at your lodge. Sweet waters Tented camp
After breakfast depart for Lake Naivasha, arriving in time for lunch at the lodge.
Lake Naivasha is the highest of the Rift Valley lakes, with clear blue waters leading to dense stands of thick papyrus and a backdrop of mountains. The views are gorgeous and the area also abounds with bird life. This afternoon for a change of scene, you will explore the lake by boat with excellent opportunities for spotting hippos and other animals that come to drink and wallow in the lake. You can take a walking tour on Crescent Island. Wildlife here includes antelopes, buffalo and giraffe. inner and overnight at Sawela Lodge FB
This day will be dedicated to visiting the nearby Hell’s Gate National Park, named for its pair of massive red-tinged cliffs that lead into dramatic scenery of steep cliffs, narrow gorges, bubbling geothermal pools and strange twisted rock formations. There are wide range of birds and mammals in the park, including vultures, eagles, baboons, zebra and Thomson’s gazelle. You will do biking, take a guided walk and try your hand at rock climbing before returning to Lake Naivasha. Overnight at Sawela Lodge FB
After breakfast you will set off for the Masai Mara, arriving in time for lunch. In the afternoon you will enter the Masai Mara Reserve and enjoy a game drive. Dinner and overnight at Base Camp Masai Mara FB
You have two full days of game drives. The Masai Mara is one of the finest game reserves in Africa, its rolling green plains and woodlands densely packed with a remarkable array of wildlife. All of the ‘big 5’ can be found here. Make sure the cameras are ready. Lions are in abundance throughout the park and you may be lucky enough to see a pride stalking their prey or perhaps a leopard retrieving its kill from the high branches of an acacia tree. Elephants, giraffes, zebra, and gazelle dot the plains together with a wide range of smaller species. Rhinos are more difficult to find but you may be lucky; game viewing here is a constant surprise and delight. The scenery is also magnificent with endless plains, picturesque acacia trees, and the spectacular Siria escarpment looming to the west. Meals and overnight at Base Camp Masai Mara FB.
This morning you will leave the Masai Mara behind en route for Nairobi with packed lunches.
Dinner and overnight at Nairobi Serena Hotel BB
This morning you will fly to the coast. You will be staying in the resort of Diani, south of Mombassa. There is a beautiful white beach here, that stretches for miles in each direction allowing plenty of scope for beach walks, ocean swims (at high tide) and general relaxation. Meals and overnight at Serena Beach Resort HB
Three full days to enjoy the beautiful beaches of the Indian Ocean. It is time to take off your shoes and dig your toes in the sand for a few days. Find a hammock and relax with nothing to disturb you but the lapping of the waves, the swishing of the coconut palms and perhaps the kids. Or if you are feeling more active, take a snorkeling excursion or perhaps try a spot of windsurfing or kayaking. Meals and overnight at
